History and Activities
- ■ 2002.4 IIST was established by President Tokio Yamabe, 1st Director was Prof. Susumu Namba who was an emeritus professor of Osaka University.
- ■ 2003.4 Science Frontier Project funded by MEXT, " Study on Creation of Environmental Energy and its Advanced Application" was started.
- ■ 2003.6 2nd IIST Symposium "Venture and Local Industry".
- ■ 2003.11 3rd IIST Symposium "Science and Technology to the 21st Century".
- ■ 2004.3 Open Ceremony of "Norin-Biomass 3" developed by Prof. Masayasu Sakai.
- ■ 2004.3 Building for Science Frontier Project ”Science Frontier Center" was established.
- ■ 2004.3 1st Science Frontier Symposium.
- ■ 2004.4 Prof. Masayasu Sakai was inaugurated as 2nd IIST Director.

- ■ 2009.9 Monthly hosted the east Nagasaki Eco-Town Study Group in order to link the laboratory results to the regional contribution.

- ■ 2010.4 Presented the conceptual design of East-Nagasaki Eco-town and Monthly hosted the Regional Cooperation Study Group for establishment of Council.

- ■ 2011.3 IIST project on City Area Program was presented on Nikkei Digital.
- ■ 2011.11 Japan's first Project “Green Center of Excellence” of Creation of Green Innovation from Universities funded by MEXT led by Prof. Yoshito Tanaka was started.
- ■ 2011.12 "Green Center of Excellence" Project Kick-off Symposium.
- ■ 2012.3 IIST Symposium "Science and Technology to the 21st Century" ~ Current and Future of the Smart Grid ~.
